An Evening of Celebrating Excellence in Your Business Family

On February 12, 2020, Family Business Association (FBA) of Vancouver Island enjoyed a joyous evening of celebration at its annual gala event to honour and recognize excellence in our community. Our community celebrated Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort as the recipient of the 2020 Family Business Excellence (FBE) Award, 49th Parallel Grocery from Ladysmith as the Finalist as well as Erin Boggs, Owner, Robinson’s Outdoor Store as the recipient of the 2020 Family Business Young Entrepreneur Award.

Listen to Founders Craig and Deborah Murray and NextGen Leaders Fraser and Becky Murray of Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort talk about the DNA family businesses have and how FBAVI provides a “common home” where others get what you are saying, where you don’t feel so alone, where people understand you and you have a community that provides education, peer support, growth, evolution and the tools to help the family business through transition in order to succeed from generation to generation.

Listen to NextGen Leader Erin Boggs, Owner of Robinson’s Outdoor Store talk about how FBAVI has been pivotal as she transitions into her leadership role – it is a community where she feels comfortable, a community that saw her leadership before she truly believed it, a community where she receives mentoring and a community where she is given opportunities for growth and pushed to put her own stamp of “environmental stewardship” on the business while carrying it forward.
